My WHY for Off The App
I’m Cassandra — the face (and heart) behind Off The App, a small but mighty effort to help single men and women meet in real life, not just through a screen. After over 15 years behind the bar, I learned one simple truth as a bartender: people just want to be seen, heard, and welcomed exactly as they are.
Throughout my career in hospitality, my world revolved around people — the regulars at the bar, the coworkers I adored, the manager I deeply respected, the family celebrating their daughter’s birthday, and the nervous couple at the table on their first date. I loved the chaos, the conversations and the small opportunities where you could make someone’s day just a little bit brighter.
Over a month ago, I abruptly decided to leave my job as a bar manager. To be blunt, I was feeling the pressures of everyday life and I was burned out to the max. Leaving that world wasn’t easy. In fact, it felt like a personal failure. I walked away from a career I was passionate about — and people I cared about — at a time when I was struggling with my own uncertainty. It wasn’t because I stopped loving it; it was because I finally realized I needed something different, for me.
But here’s the thing: hospitality never left me.
At its core, hospitality is about seeing people. Hearing them. Making them feel welcome, human, and worthy — no matter what. And that’s exactly why I started Off The App.
It’s my mission to create a space where you are welcome, supported, and seen. Dating can be scary, but it truly doesn’t have to be — because everyone walking into that room is feeling the exact same way. So come as you are. Be yourself. Take the pressure off, leave any doubt at the door and just have some fun. You never know who you’ll meet, or what you’ll discover about yourself.
