To Spend or Not to Spend?

It doesn’t matter if you’re a man or a woman - dating can sometimes come with a hefty price tag. Between dinner, the drink tab, gas, and maybe even a new outfit, the costs all add up fast! For many singles, the financial side of dating can feel just as draining as the emotional ups and downs of the online world.

I was curious about what those costs really look like here in the Midwest, so I did a little digging. The results surprised me a bit: the average first date in Wisconsin costs around $118.50. At first, I thought that that number seemed high, but I then realized it’s actually pretty spot-on. When my husband and I go out for a typical date night (once you add up food, drinks, and gratuity) we usually land right around that number.

Now, thinking about this from a single person’s perspective, I’m spending over $100 for one evening with one person. This isn’t anything new or groundbreaking. However, if the chemistry isn’t there, that’s a pretty risky investment for just a few hours…

When I plan and host Off The App singles events, I keep this in mind. There are many factors to consider such as location, parking, venue amenities, atmosphere, and overall experience, but the biggest factor is value. I want everyone who attends to feel like they got more than their money’s worth.
